Reminder: Postpartum Bodies Don't Usually Come with Abs

These pics prove that Sarah Stage is a genetic anomaly.

By now, you’ve seen pregnancy and post-birth Instagram photos of fitness model Sarah Stage, a.k.a. the formerly pregnant woman with a six-pack. And you’ve probably realized her insane abs aren’t exactly the norm.

While Sarah has every right to be proud of her body (because…damn), a recent Instagram movement has moms proudly showing off their post-pregnancy bodies—“imperfections” and all. The movement was started by mom of six January Harshe, who said on her blog that she created the hashtag to balance out the pervasive message to women that their postpartum bodies aren’t good enough. Moms everywhere embraced it, and “real” photos of postpartum women started flooding Instagram feeds everywhere.

If there’s anything we can learn from this, it’s that postpartum bodies come in all shapes and types. Curvy, skinny, striped, or ripped—there is no “normal” when it comes to postpartum bodies, and that’s 100-percent okay.
