The Perfect Playlist to Blast While You’re Working Toward a Longer, Leaner Body

FitBallet shared one of its recent mixes to amp up your next sweat session.

Every week, Your New Favorite Playlist introduces you to workout-worthy tunes from a different fitness brand. This week, fitBallet shares a playlist from a recent class.

Whatever you do, don't call fitBallet a barre workout. "We're a high-intensity workout that combines elements of ballet and traditional circuit training," says founder Julie Walsh. "In the course of a workout, you're going from plies to pushups and then first position jumps to burpees. It's extremely hard—we use hand weights and kettlebells to bump up the intensity—but really fun."

Something else fitBallet prides itself on is changing the conversation around fitness. While Schechter says her workouts promote a long, lean body, she is also careful to point out that she doesn't think it should be your only goal. "Our tagline is, 'Your body is for you,'" she says. "That's what we're about. If you're focused on physical accomplishment and working like a boss, the great body will come naturally." (To which we say: yes!)

To go along with that message, the music used during workouts is all about empowerment. "Most of our song playlists are intentionally girl power-y," says Schechter. "When you're halfway through a set of burpees and questioning your life choices and then 'Who Run the World (Girls)' comes on, you're like, 'Yes! Beyoncé is here to save me!'" Can't make it to the studio? This mix from a recent class will help bring the same energy to your next workout (and yes, "Who Run the World (Girls)" is on it):
