For athletes who have the luxury of warm living in a state like California, traveling to steamy destinations like Nicaragua or Bali for competitions, and whom must train tirelessly outdoors as it's the environment of their sports, the sun can actually be the biggest enemy. Getting a tan is the least of these ladies' concerns since one day on the water or slopes gets them more color than your weeklong vacation. The focus for these pros: fending off the sun and its repercussions like sunburn, wrinkles, and worst of all, melanoma. They run the gamut of skin damage being outside so much, so lathering up isn't an option—it's a must. We asked three of our favorite outdoor athletes for their tips on how they protect their bodies from damaging rays. Adopt these practices today for better skin tomorrow.
