If the recent Twitter spat between Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift is any indication, people still love pitting women against each other. Even though both Taylor and Nicki have explicitly said in both their lyrics and interviews that their goal is to support and empower women, it seems like people can't get enough of the idea that they must actually hate each other—because how could two powerful, strong, beautiful women actually be friends?

But here's the thing: They're both bigger than that, and as many women can attest, competing against each other isn't half as fun or rewarding as supporting each other and celebrating the victories of the ladies we love (even if we are a tiny bit jealous—we're only human).
Here are a few awesome examples of times women stood up and celebrated each other.
10. Ariana Grande & Taylor Swift
@ArianaGrande I'm so proud of you, always. But especially today. "She will need her sisterhood."
— Taylor Swift (@taylorswift13) June 7, 2015
Ariana posted a long statement urging people to stop defining women by who they are or aren’t dating, and T-Swift tweeted her love and support to her fellow 2014 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show performer soon after.
9. Gloria Steinem and Kathy Griffin
To my dear friend Kathy Griffin: I'm so glad you left Fashion Police -- your comedy is about behavior, character and...
After Kathy Griffin announced she was leaving Fashion Police, original feminist Gloria Steinem posted an open letter applauding her for “standing up against the woman-bashing."
8. Cara Delevingne & Kiera Knightly
Keira Knightly was amazing in the Chanel movie #yougoCoco http://t.co/Nqf1RZsHvX
— Cara Delevingne (@Caradelevingne) May 8, 2013
A compliment and a Mean Girls reference wrapped up in one? Cara Delevingne (pretty much a Chanel expert herself) deserves the Spring Fling Queen crown for calling out Keira Knightley’s “amazing” performance as the iconic designer in a Karl Lagerfeld-directed short film in 2013.
7. Britney Spears & Miley Cyrus
Love what @MileyCyrus did at the #VMAs last night Learn what #MyFriendsPlace is all about & support the cause: http://t.co/pXOxhU8eW5
— Britney Spears (@britneyspears) August 25, 2014
Britney Spears knows her share of controversy, so it was refreshing to see her call out fellow Disney alumnae Miley Cyrus for giving a platform to homeless youth at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards.
6. Christina Aguilera & Miley Cyrus
Cheers from one dirrty girl to the next @MileyCyrus...wear em' loud & proud, girl- yes!! pic.twitter.com/oK49UlvQaf
— Christina Aguilera (@xtina) February 23, 2014
Britney isn’t the only pop star to send some love Miley’s way—the original "dirrty girl" Christina Aguilera cheered on the “We Can’t Stop” singer’s risque fashion choice after attending her February 2014 concert.
5. Amy Schumer, Tina Fey, & Amy Poehler
Bow down to Tina and Amy. Amazing. Holy shit so good
— Amy Schumer (@amyschumer) January 12, 2015
Comedian Amy Schumer has hosted a few award shows herself, like the 2014 MTV Movie Awards, so she knows a good thing when she sees it. She called out fellow funny women Tiny Fey and Amy Poehler for their great job hosting the Golden Globes.
4. Lady Gaga & Mariah Carey
Last Christmas, all Lady Gaga wanted was to see Mimi sing about Santa Baby. She posted an Instagam of the two of them together and wrote, “Hey ladies, Merry F*cking Christmas. Love, Mariah and Gaga. This lady is so kind, such a star, and sounding legendary tonight at Beacon Theatre.”
3. J.K. Rowling & Serena Williams
#SerenaSlam! I love her. What an athlete, what a role model, what a woman!
— J.K. Rowling (@jk_rowling) July 11, 2015
J.K. Rowling sent some of her magic Serena Williams’ way during the 2015 Wimbledon finals, livetweeting the match, celebrating the tennis superstar’s record-breaking win, and then perfectly shutting down an “idiot” who said Serena is built like a man.
2. Emma Watson, Cheryl Strayed, & Reese Witherspoon
Its been less than 3 weeks and I have devoured Torch, Tiny Beautiful Things and Wild. Thank you @RWitherspoon @CherylStrayed x
— Emma Watson (@EmWatson) January 3, 2015
Calling out one woman for being awesome is cool, but managing to congratulate two at once is truly wizardly. Emma Watson managed to pull it off when she praised Wild author Cheryl Strayed and her actress counterpart, Reese Witherspoon.
1. Caitlyn Jenner & Laverne Cox
When Caitlyn Jenner came out with her now historic Vanity Fair cover, Laverne Cox took to her blog to say that it was was Caitlyn’s whole self that was most important, not just how beautiful she is on the outside. “Caitlyn looks amazing and is beautiful," wrote Cox, "but what I think is most beautiful about her is her heart and soul, the ways she has allowed the world into her vulnerabilities."
