When we tuned in to the 2015 ESPY Awards, we expected some great sports montages, some awkward jokes from award presenters, and a few inspirational acceptance speeches. What we got was a trashcan full of snotty tissues—because we were in tears the whole time. Below are our favorite moments from this year’s ESPY Awards.
When Mo’ne Davis Won Breakout Athlete
Mo’ne Davis has been blowing our minds since she threw a shutout in the 2014 American Little League World Series. She accepted her award tonight with the poise of someone twice her age. #GirlPower

When Peyton Manning Brought Showed Off His Date (His Daughter)
Peyton's pastel-colored suit was almost as cute as his date, his 4-year-old daughter, Mosley.

When Danielle Green Taught Us About Purpose
The Notre Dame basketball player and U.S. Army veteran lost her arm while on tour in Iraq. Tonight, she accepted the Pat Tillman Award for Service and left us teary-eyed: “If my story leaves you with one thing tonight, I hope it leaves you with a challenge. Ask yourself, ‘What’s my purpose? What’s my passion? What do I want my legacy to be?’”
"We can all find a purpose on this earth larger than ourselves." Danielle Green at the #ESPYS. pic.twitter.com/R1WQmXylZp

When Lauren Hill Taught Us to 'Never Give Up'
When she was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, Lauren Hill’s college basketball team rallied to make sure she’d play a collegiate game. She told the ESPN crew that was with her that day, “To me, it means my first college game, not my last one.” Lauren’s parents accepted the Best Moment ESPY on her behalf; she sadly passed away in April. They've since started Layup4Lauren.org to raise awareness and funds for cancer research.
When Devon and Leah Still Stole Our Hearts
Cincinnati Bengals lineman Devon Still accepted the Jimmy V. Perseverance Award on behalf of his daughter Leah, who has been fighting cancer since she was 4 years old. We couldn’t get enough of Devon and Leah’s father-daughter selfies and admire her bravery as she “beats up cancer.”
P.S.: Devon, we know you paint Leah’s nails.

When Caitlyn Jenner Gave Her Powerful Acceptance Speech
In her first major public appearance, Caitlyn Jenner took the stage to accept the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage—and she did so with incredible grace. She spoke about her life in the spotlight and said, “with attention comes responsibility” while advocating for respect and compassion for the trans community. We had chills throughout her entire introduction, and by the end of her speech, we clapped from our living room.
