10 Alternative (and Much Sexier) Names for 'Female Viagra'

Just because it's for women doesn't mean it needs to sound cute.

Yesterday the FDA approved Addyi, the first libido-enhancing medication just for women. One of the coolest parts about how this drug made it to market was that Even the Score, a conglomerate of 26 groups focused on evening the sexual health playing field for women, lobbied for the approval of the drug as a statement about women's rights. “This is the biggest breakthrough for women’s sexual health since the pill,” Sally Greenberg, executive director of the National Consumers League, told the New York Times.

Flibanserin (the official name of the drug) is not beloved by all. It's known to increase blood pressure, and contribute to fainting spells—especially if the person taking it is also consuming alcohol (yikes).

That said, in an 18—6 vote, the FDA approved Flibanserin with basically flying colors, and then Sprout Pharmaceuticals slapped a name on it that is—let's be real—a total lady-boner killer.

Addyi is how American Girl doll Addy would spell her name if she was actually alive in the '90s (maybe even with a star or heart over the "i"). It's what college kids call Adderall when they're trying to be sneaky. It's basically like a butterfly-shaped vibrator that clips onto a pink thong. All of this is well and good if that's what you're into, but considering the pill is for women who are experiencing a distressing dip in their sex drives, we're wondering why it sounds like something you should stick in your Lisa Frank pencil case.

So we asked around the Women's Health office to see if women (and a few men) who think about female sexual health every day could come up with a better name for this breakthrough drug. Here's what we came up with:

Vag-Agra: Just like female vs. male orgasms, it's similar, but different.

YasQueen: Because you're a queen who deserves to scream "Yaaas!"

Celebrexxx: For when you want to celebrate good times and have things get x-rated…

VaJane: It’s for everywoman, including the regular Janes who just want a better sex life (a.k.a all of us).

Foxycontin: Because you'll get addicted to this libido enhancer.

Hornitra: For when you need to get your horn on…(womp womp).

Be-Yonce: Because every woman wants to feel like Beyonce, duh.
