This Woman Got Naked in Public for a Really Good Reason

Our collective heart is exploding for her.

Forget empowering ad campaigns and emotional viral videos. The best way to promote body acceptance is to stand naked in the middle of a busy city square...right? That's what Jae West, a a young activist from Perth, Australia who has struggled with eating disorders through her teens and twenties, did this past Sunday.

Jae, who is part of a social awareness group called Liberators International, stripped to her underwear in the middle of London’s Piccadilly Circus and put on a blindfold. She then offered pens in her outstretched hands and held a sign that read, “I’m standing for anyone who has struggled with an eating disorder or self esteem issue like me. ... To support self acceptance, draw a heart on my body.” Then, she waited.

Her body was soon covered in hearts. “The feeling of the [first] felt pen on my skin was one of the most overwhelming feelings of relief, gratitude, and love that I’ve ever felt,” Jae wrote in a blog post after the experiment. “I just burst into tears. After that first love heart was drawn, it felt like others were liberated to follow suit because soon all the pens were leaving my hands at a rapid place.”

We dare you to try not to get goosebumps while watching the video of the inspiring social experiment.
